18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women 2019

18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women 2019

Annually, the Philippines holds a campaign to end VAW (violence against women) from November 25 to December 12. The campaign is in line with the international observance against gender-based human right violation. And Carcar Women and Children Lying-In Polyclinic & Laboratory, a polyclinic in Carcar, supports the national call to protect the rights and dignity of women.

As a maternity clinic in Carcar, we have addressed numerous concerns regarding women’s health, including pregnancy-related care. We’ve also seen the unmatched strength of a woman as she delivers new life into this world.

Data from the National Demographic and Health Survey shows that an alarming 26% of married women have experienced sexual, physical, or emotional violence from their spouses. However, according to the Council for the Welfare of Children, the actual number could be a lot higher since the data only relies on mere police reports. As the best hospital in Carcar City, Cebu, we work with multiple agencies to curve down these numbers and eliminate VAW.

The Proclamation No. 1172 s. 2006 took the initiative to start the campaign against VAW and their children. Our lying-in in Carcar extends its hands to those domestic violence victims who may have struggled coming out to the authority, with the utmost commitment to ending any form of spousal violence. Furthermore, the R.A No. 10398 (2013), which declared November 25 as the National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC), strengthened the law.

Undeniably, women are the makers and nurturers of life. As such, we must condemn all forms of discrimination or violence towards women. Our 24 hours hospital in Carcar encourages everyone to get involved in this national concern.
